Hello to whoever is taking their time to read this! My name is Manuela Frey, I'm a 20 year old business student from Switzerland and currently doing an exchange semester at UQ. I'm doing the Introduction to Journalism and Communication course because I am going to do my master's degree in Business Journalism - and because I love writing and learning about the different kinds of media. At my Swiss uni, I am an editor for the student's magazine (prisma) and I hope I'll be learning a lot of things in JOUR1111 that I can use to develop my abilities as a writer and aspiring journalist. My only concern would be that English is not my first language and that therefore I might have some initial difficulties with my style of writing - but, as they say, practice makes perfect :-).
I have been in Brisbane for about 2.5 weeks now, and so far, I absolutely love it! One thing that I've been observing pretty much every single day is that the people generally are very friendly and outgoing. I have found myself to be in a constantly good mood as well since I've been here - I attribute this to the amazingly good weather and the constant sunshine. I am looking forward to the time ahead and am very excited for the many new experiences that are to be had!
