The third lecture's topic was "Telling factual stories with pictures". From a lecture on pictures and moving pictures I expected a visually attractive and engaging presentation, and I was not disappointed. I had seen the picture of the Afghan girl with the nose cut off before; but everytime I see it, it just gives me shivers and I think that photo truly shows the power that can lie within a picture.
As a boring business student, I had never heard of the Rule of Thirds before, so this small view into the theory of taking a good picture was very interesting for me.
This is a photo gallery on the Norway shooting last month - the captions are in German but I think that even if you might not understand them, you'll still understand the extremely moving and emotion-provoking pictures, showing that a picture really derives its meaning from the story it can convey.
